Amy Grant is saying that she is still having health problems after the terrible bike accident she was in in 2022.
In an interview with E! News, Grant said that the injuries she got still make it hard for her to remember things. “I’m still having trouble with my short-term memory.” It’s still hard for me to balance. Last night, I joked about it. I walk around like I’m drunk sometimes, and it makes me laugh.
“I don’t remember what I forgot.” I’m not sure if I’ll ride my bike again. There are lots of fun sports to choose from, so who knows?”
Is that all Amy, now 63, has been through? As she was getting better from her accident, doctors found a cyst in her throat that needed to be surgically removed. Amy says that what she found is a “gift.”

Grant explained that the cyst “went into hypergrowth” because the accident was so scary. “They took it out after five hours of surgery.” That’s right, I had to learn how to sing again. […] She went on to say, “I just felt like an old beat-up car that went in and got a paint job.” Amy also said that the surgery gave her a little facelift.
Amy Grant was in a bike accident in late July 2022 that sent her to the hospital with cuts, scrapes, memory loss, and a traumatic brain injury. When she hit a pothole on her bike, it was just another day for her. She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center right away.
Even though her health was stable at the time, Grant knew it would take a long time for her to get better. In the end, she had to stay in the hospital for two nights before being sent home to continue her recovery. Because of this, she had to cancel the concerts and shows she had planned for August of last year.
Amy Grant is back after almost seven months. She is feeling “re-vved up” as she goes back to the recording studio and, most importantly, the stage. She met with Craig Melvin of TODAY on Wednesday to talk about her recovery and what the future holds for her as she gets back into music.
“This is a long book I wrote. It was a notebook with spirals. “I was just writing to remember—making sure I could remember everyone in my family’s name, which I couldn’t at first,” Amy Grant said about her recovery. The damage to her brain made it hard for her to remember names and even song lyrics.

Grant first went back on stage for her Christmas tour, but she needed a teleprompter and was having trouble standing in her heels. She said she was “so scared” and would hold on to the piano to stay upright. But she was thankful to work with so many people who always had her back.
Even though it’s been a few months, doctors have told her it could take up to 18 months to fully recover. This is because the bike accident wasn’t the only health problem she’s had in the past few years. One example is that she had to have open-heart surgery in June 2020.
She recently had surgery to remove a cyst from her throat that was making it harder for her to sing. She said it made her feel like her “Adam’s apple” was getting bigger. “I had a thyroglossal duct cyst while I didn’t know it.” It was yet another setback for her, but she didn’t stay down for long.
