A woman’s peaceful night hike in a remote mountain area turned into an unforgettable rescue mission after she heard the sound of a dog crying in the dark.
According to a first-hand account shared online, she was hiking alone as dusk fell when she suddenly heard what sounded like a dog in distress. Initially unsure whether she was imagining things, she paused and listened again — the whining and whimpering became unmistakable.
“At first I thought it might be another hiker’s pet,” she later wrote. “But as I walked toward the sound, I realized it was much farther off the trail — and there was no one else in sight.”
Into the Darkness
