Finding Out How to Make Cabbage Ruffle, a Delicious Turkish Treat

Have you ever thought about what makes Turkish dishes like kebab and lahmacun taste even better? Now everyone knows: it’s the crunchy, sour purple cabbage ruffle! This colorful side dish not only makes your plate look nicer, but it also adds a nice crunch that goes well with the rich, savory flavors. I’m excited to share this hidden gem from the restaurant world with you today so you can make this amazing treat at home. It tastes great, doesn’t cost much, and is easy to make. Let’s get everything we need for this fun trip together and begin!

Things used:

1 1/2 kg of purple cabbage

20 grams of rock salt, measured out in tablespoons

1 glass (200 ml) of apple cider vinegar

Two small lemons’ worth of juice

How to Do It:

Get the cabbage ready: First, wash the purple cabbage really well. Then, cut it into thin strips that look like ruffles. It will taste better if the slices are quite thin.

To salt the cabbage, put the slices in a large bowl and mix them together. Spread the rock salt out on top of the cabbage. After that, rub the salt into the cabbage with your hands. This method helps the cabbage get soft and lets its natural juices come out.

Add Lemon and Vinegar: Pour the apple cider vinegar over the salted cabbage. After that, squeeze the juice of two lemons into the mixture. Along with their bright, sour taste, the vinegar and lemon also help the cabbage get crisp by adding to the pickling process.

Stir and Marinate: Make sure all the ingredients are well mixed. Make sure that the vinegar and lemon juice mixture covers all of the cabbage strips well. Place the bowl somewhere cool and cover it with a lid or plastic wrap. Let the mixture sit for at least four hours, or better yet, overnight. The cabbage will get more flavorful and crispy as it sits for longer.

Serve and enjoy! After the cabbage has marinated for the perfect amount of time, give it one last stir and it’s ready to go! This purple cabbage ruffle is really crispy and looks beautiful as a side dish for kebabs, lahmacun, or even salads and sandwiches.

This simple but incredibly tasty purple cabbage ruffle will surprise your family and friends. It shows how a few simple ingredients can be used to make something truly amazing. This Turkish secret has a mix of crisp textures and tangy flavors that you will love.
