A cancer patient marries in a hospital

The wedding day should be filled with love, joy, and happy tears. Each day, tens of thousands of marriages are subject to these requirements. Sadly, the marriage of David and Heather Mosher was anything but ordinary.

In 2015, when Heather and David first met, it was “love at first sight.” The two connected immediately after meeting while attending a dance class because they were meant to be.

On December 23, 2016, Dave asked Heather to marry him by going down on one knee. He did it as the two were traveling in a carriage pulled by horses under the peaceful glow of the street lights.

Heather cheerfully responded “yes,” even knowing the good news for the two of them would soon be overshadowed.

On the day they got engaged, Heather disclosed to David that she had a breast lump that might be cancerous.

She was devastated to learn five days later that she had a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer with a bad prognosis.

Originally planning to wed on December 30, 2017, the couple immediately recognized that due to the cancer’s rapid growth, they would need to change the wedding date up.

How dangerous a patient’s cancer is is frequently determined by the occurrence of metastases, or daughter tumors. In Heather’s instance, the situation quickly got worse.

But on December 22, more than a year after Dave had proposed, the moment had come. While Heather was in the hospital, a beautiful wedding took place, attended by family and friends.

One of Heather’s closest friends, Christina Karas, who served as a bridesmaid and substitute photographer, said, “She was determined to marry her soul mate.”

At that point, Heather’s body was so frail that her family was ready to just use the dress as a blanket to cover her.

When she finally put the gown on inside the hospital chapel, the wedding could officially begin.

Even so, Heather had to put effort into each and every action—every word, each breath, each movement. She found it difficult to get the bravery to make her vows.

She would speak no more after these, which was proper.

“It was a miracle,” Christina exclaimed.

Even as she raised her arms and realized she was going to die, she was happy. She only wanted a fun atmosphere.

Christina continued, “Everyone cried.” We loved every moment since we knew it was our last chance to be with her.

David’s day was filled with love even though it was tainted by sorrow and despair.

David remarked, “She was attractive and felt secure.

“I noticed her illness. I could tell she was hurt, but she persisted and eventually wed me. It’s amazing how much you can love someone.

Heather takes her final breath.

“Yes,” Heather replied, and then she passed away 18 hours later. She was only 31 years old.

On December 30, the day Dave and Heather had initially planned to get married, the funeral for Heather was held at the Plantsville Congregational Church. The site for the wedding had been precisely chosen by the couple.

“It was an incredibly difficult day,” Christina explains. A great individual has left the planet.

After after, Christina shared pictures of the couple that she had taken at their wedding. People all throughout the world have been moved by them.

Everyone involved has experienced sadness, but I’m happy that this story will likely serve as an example for many others.

It illustrates the strength of love, even in the face of hopelessness. People have an unbelievable will to live when they wish to keep pursuing their goals.
