A simple and tasty way to make mozzarella at home
It’s not only easy, but also fun and satisfying to make mozzarella cheese at home. Making tasty, creamy mozzarella in your own kitchen is easy and only takes a few simple steps and common household items. Great for giving your food a homemade feel!
Things used:
Whole milk (fresh and good) in a gallon
1 1/2 teaspoons of acidic water
A quarter of a rennet tablet or a quarter teaspoon of liquid rennet
1/4 cup of cool, clean water (to dissolve the rennet)
One cup of cool, clean water [to dissolve citric acid]
Add salt to taste.
To warm the milk, pour the gallon of milk into a large pot first. Slowly heat it up over medium-low heat until it reaches 90 degrees Fahrenheit. To keep things from burning, stir every so often.
Mix in the citric acid. Mix 1 1/2 teaspoons of citric acid with 1 cup of cool water while the milk is warming up. Add the citric acid solution and stir it in when the milk is the right temperature. You’ll see that the milk starts to separate.
Add Rennet: Next, mix 1/4 of a rennet tablet or 1/4 of a teaspoon of rennet with 1/4 cup of cool water. Mix this with the milk and stir it slowly for 30 seconds. Take your hands off the milk and wait 5 to 10 minutes. The milk will further separate into a liquid (whey) and a soft, solid mass called curd.
Cut the curd into cubes with a knife while it’s still in the pot. Then cook the cubes. Stir the curds and whey slowly as you heat them to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. The curds will get stronger.
Take a slotted spoon and separate the curds from the whey. Put the curds in a bowl that can go in the microwave. To make the curds, heat them in short bursts and stretch and fold them between each one. During this step, add salt to your liking. Do this over and over until the cheese gets stretchy and smooth.
Once your cheese is shiny and stretchy, you can shape it into a ball or any other shape you like. Just wait a little while longer, and your homemade mozzarella will be ready to eat!
This recipe is a great way to make your food taste more homemade and fancy. This mozzarella will impress you with its fresh, creamy taste, whether you use it to make a classic caprese salad, put it on your own homemade pizza, or just eat it by itself. Have fun making cheese!
