A wife came home after a long day of shopping—only to be stunned by what she saw: her husband in bed with a young, beautiful woman.
Furious, she turned to leave without a word.
But her husband stopped her.
“Before you go,” he said calmly, “you deserve to know how this happened.”
On his drive home, he explained, he’d noticed a young woman on the roadside—exhausted, poor, and clearly struggling. He offered her a ride.
She was hungry, so he brought her home and fed her leftovers that had been sitting untouched in the fridge.
Her shoes were falling apart, so he gave her a pair of yours you never wore anymore.
She was cold, so he handed her that birthday sweater you’d kept in the closet because you didn’t like the color.
Her pants were torn, so he gave her a pair you said no longer fit.
As she was about to leave, the young woman hesitated… then asked one final question:
“Is there anything else your wife doesn’t use anymore?”
She looked at him slowly… then at the young woman… then back at her husband.
She smiled.
Turned to the girl and said,
“Yes. There is one last thing I don’t use anymore.”
She grabbed her husband by the arm, shoved him toward the door, and added:
“Take him. He hasn’t been useful in years.”
The young woman blinked.
The husband froze.
And the wife calmly walked upstairs, locked the bedroom door, and yelled down:
“Since you’re giving things away, feel free to include the car — I stopped using that today too.”
Moral of the story?
Never finish a speech unless you’re absolutely sure you’re not the next item being donated. 😄
