It is with heavy hearts that we report the death of ‘Rocky’ star

A report said that Carl Weathers’ official cause of death was made public on Friday, a week after the actor passed away in his sleep.

Weathers died of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to his death certificate, which was obtained by The Blast. He was known for his role as Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” movies.

He died at his home in Venice, California, just after midnight on February 2. He had been sick with a heart condition for years.

On the death certificate, it said that his son Matthew Weathers told the police that he had died. After that, he was burned.

Weathers’ family said in a statement, “Carl was a truly remarkable person who lived an exceptionally remarkable life.” “He has left an indelible mark on film, TV, the arts, and sports, and his contributions are known all over the world and by people of all ages.” He was a brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend who was loved by many.

He was born in New Orleans in 1948 and worked in Hollywood for more than 50 years.

He played memorable parts in “Predator,” “Happy Gilmore,” and “The Mandalorian,” but Apollo Creed, the famous fictional boxer, will always be his most famous role.

In 1976’s “Rocky,” Weather played Apollo Creed for the first time. He then played the part again in 1979’s “Rocky II” and 1982’s “Rocky III.”

In 1985’s “Rocky IV,” Ivan Drogo (Dolph Lundgren) killed the character in the ring. But the character lives on in Michael B. Jordan’s a three “Creed” movies over the last ten years as Apollo Creed’s son Adonis.

Weathers had a very successful career. He voiced Combat Carl in the “Toy Story” movies and played a made-up version of himself on “Arrested Development.”

There were also popular TV shows with Weathers, like “The Shield,” “Street Justice,” “Colony,” “Chicago P.D.”, and “Brothers.”

One of his roles on “The Mandalorian” got him nominated for an Emmy in 2021 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

His other movies that people knew him for were “The Comebacks” and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”

In college, he played football at San Diego State University. After college, he became a free agent and signed with the Oakland Raiders in 1970.

During two NFL seasons, he played eight games as both a linebacker and a strong safety.

Weathers filmed a Super Bowl ad for FanDuel with former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski before he died. The ad will air during the big game on Sunday.
