Kelly McGillis at 65 is totally changed

On Thursday, Kelly McGillis made a rare appearance in public in North Carolina.

In Hendersonville, the former actress was seen exiting a church while sporting an oversized blouse, loose-fitting leggings, and flip-flops.

The 62-year-old actress also appeared unrecognizably different from how she appeared in classic movies like Witness from 1985 and Top Gun from 1986, where she flaunted her famed physique and fine looks.

The group unveiled a more substantial version of the Golden Globe winner, suggesting that age may be contributing to McGillis’ new fuller form.

However, the Winter People actress appeared content and in good health after virtually leaving Hollywood for quiet country life.

McGillis made her acting début in 1983, upon graduation from the renowned Juilliard School, in the comedy-drama Reuben, Reuben.

She received her big break two years later in Peter Weir’s suspenseful thriller Witness, where she starred as an Amish widow opposite Harrison Ford.

She became well-known in the year after Top Gun.

She portrayed Charlotte “Charlie” Blackwood, a professor and astronomer who falls for Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, played by Tom Cruise.

Despite having a $15 million production budget, the movie made $356 million in box office revenue.

The Accused, a 1988 film starring Jodie Foster, who won the Best Actress Oscar, featured McGillis as a lawyer representing a rape victim.

When the film was released, McGillis felt obliged to relate her account of being raped by two strangers since she had endured a similar event to Foster’s character.

I was unable to eat or sleep for the first two weeks following the occurrence. I was always twitching, McGillis said to People in 1988. I could not control the sudden gasps I would let out.

“When the project was over, it was like a monster had been exorcised, but I still had trouble presenting my tale in public because I was terrified,” the author said.

Following The Accused, McGillis struggled to find work in television movies and critically panned films like North.

Her private life was suffering as well because she eventually had to deal with her drug addiction and closeted homosexuality.

Nevertheless, after relocating to Pennsylvania in 2002, she and her two girls found it enjoyable to live in the background.

With appearances in the vampire film Stake Land and the Showtime drama The L-Word, McGillis is now dabbling in acting on occasion.

Fans of the first Top Gun are anticipating the release of the Top Gun: Maverick sequel in 2020.

Cruise is joined by Val Kilmer, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, and Miles Teller as the hotshot pilot in this sequel.
