Pay attention! Why you should never wash chicken
The reason doctors say we shouldn’t wash chicken is now known! When we think we are doing the right thing and just wash the chicken or chicken meat in the sink, we put ourselves and those close to us in danger.
As a result, people are told not to wash raw chicken meat because it makes the risk of food poisoning higher.
4500 adults from the UK took part in an online poll, and 44% of them said they washed the meat before cooking it.
Campylobacter bacteria are spread on hands, work surfaces, clothing, and cooking tools when chicken meat is washed, according to experts.
About 280,000 people in the UK get sick every year from the bacteria, but only 28% of those who answered the survey had heard of it.
There were only 33% of people who knew that the bacteria mostly come from chicken. But 90% of them knew what salmonella and e.coli infections were.
