That 70s Show’ Star Gets Massive Sentence 3 Months After Being Found Guilty

After receiving a sentence of 30 years to life in jail, a courtroom sketch of Masterson became popular. The former actor’s behavior after receiving his sentence is drawing notice, despite prior claims that he was emotionless during the court.

Masterson turned around, spotted his wife, Bijou Masterson, and kissed her, according to a sketch made at the time. Similar to how she felt when her husband was found guilty, Bijou cried in court.

So much so that if she couldn’t keep her composure, the court advised her to leave the room. “Are you able to remain calm? I am aware of how challenging it is. If not, though, I need you to go outside.

The destiny of Danny Masterson, who most of us know from his role as Steven Hyde on That 70’s Show, has been revealed. The 47-year-old was found guilty on two charges of rape in May 2023 and given a sentence of 30 years to life in prison. He will be eligible for parole after serving the maximum term authorized, which is 25 1/2 years.

Before passing judgment, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo observed, “Mr. Masterson, I know that you’re sitting here steadfast in your claims of innocence, and thus, no doubt feeling victimized by a justice system that has failed you.” She emphasized that the women in this situation are the victims, not him.

Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim in this situation. 20 years ago, you removed another person’s voice and freedom of choice. In some way or another, you will have to accept the results of your past choices, said Olmedo. According to reports, Masterson displayed no emotion during the punishment.

If you need a refresher, Danny Masterson was first detained in June 2020 and later accused of three counts of forced rape. At the height of his fame, he was accused of raping a 23-year-old ex-girlfriend in 2001 and two other women (a 28-year-old and a 23-year-old) in 2003 at his home.

After being originally set to start on August 29, 2022, his first trial actually started on October 11, 2022, and both parties rested their cases a month later. Sadly for the accusers, the judge declared a mistrial when the jury couldn’t agree on a verdict after several weeks of deliberations. On April 24, 2023, a fresh trial started, and it ended on May 17, 2023.

He was ultimately found guilty on the two counts of rape from 2003 after two weeks of jury deliberations, but they were unable to agree on the third count because the jury was tied 8-4 in favor of conviction; however, they needed to reach a unanimous verdict to find him guilty of the 2001 incident.

He had been sentenced on Thursday (September 7) to 30 years to life in jail for the two counts of rape of which he had been found guilty. The two accusers talked about the psychological and physical harm he caused them, and they regretted not approaching the police sooner.

Defense wanted Danny Masterson to receive 15 years to life in prison.

The defense urged that the convictions be applied concurrently, which would have resulted in 15 years to life in jail, but the prosecution was emphatic that Danny Masterson receive the entire 30 years to life in prison. The magistrate opted to support the prosecution.

What you chose now will have an impact on his life. And the life of his 9-year-old daughter, to whom he and she mean the world, said Masterson’s attorney, Shawn Holley, adding that his client has “lived an exemplary life” and has fulfilled his obligations as a husband and parent.

His counsel continuously claimed that the sex acts he conducted in 2003 were voluntary and ridiculed the variations and contradictions in the survivors’ testimonies as the trial progressed. They claimed to have observed it as evidence of collaboration between the two as they worked to tarnish his name, moral character, and public image.

The two women claimed that Danny Masterson had drugged them before the crimes were committed, but no drug-related charges were brought against Danny Masterson, and there was no toxicology evidence. An appeal is being prepared by Masterson and his legal counsel.
