The drink increases the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Many of us consume it daily

Sour juice tastes delicious, but that doesn’t mean it’s made from ingredients that are beneficial to the body. On the contrary, health researchers have reported that there is a link between excessive consumption of fizzy drinks and the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

Fizzy drinks increase the risk of Alzheimer’s disease

Scientists in the US have shown in a study that mice who consume a daily amount proportional to that contained in 5 cans of the drinks have worse memory and twice as many brain deposits (which are usually associated with this dreadful disease) than mice who eat a normal diet.

Excessive consumption of sweet and carbonated drinks can contribute to weight gain and type 2 diabetes, which are risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease.

Why you should never drink fizzy drinks again:

  1. Increase your risk of getting cancer
Recent studies show that there is a strong link between various types of cancer and the consumption of carbonated drinks. For example, drinking two carbonated drinks a day increases the amount of insulin the pancreas produces and doubles the risk of developing pancreatic cancer.

One carbonated drink a day increases the risk of developing prostate cancer by 40%. Many fizzy drinks contain highly toxic colourings, which can cause various forms of cancer, including breast cancer.

  1. Increase the risk of heart disease
Scientists in America have found a strong link between sugar consumption (carbonated soft drinks contain huge amounts of sugar) and deaths from cardiovascular disease.

For example, if you drink three carbonated drinks a day, your risk of developing heart disease triples.

  1. Can cause diabetes
It has been scientifically proven that high-sugar drinks increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
  2. Can make your liver sick
A 2009 study found that unhealthy fats are deposited on the liver as a result of drinking carbonated drinks. Also, if you drink just two carbonated drinks a day you can develop serious liver disease.
  3. This can lead to premature birth
A study of 60,000 pregnant women in Denmark concluded that women who consume high-sugar drinks during pregnancy are more likely to give birth prematurely. The chemicals in artificial sweeteners, which can alter the uterus, are to blame.
  4. May affect the way the brain works
Carbonated drinks have been found to alter proteins in the brain to such an extent that the brain can become overworked.
  5. May cause premature ageing
Phosphates used in carbonated drinks and processed foods speed up the ageing process. Don’t just think of wrinkles, but also of the diseases that come with ageing, such as kidney failure or calcification of the arteries.
  6. Puberty at a younger age
A Harvard study of 5,583 girls aged between 9 and 14 showed that those who consumed one and a half doses of carbonated soft drinks daily reached menstruation earlier than those who did not have carbonated soft drinks in their daily diet.
  7. Can lead to obesity
Yes, we already know this, don’t we? However, what is less known is that ‘light’ drinks can also lead to the accumulation of unwanted extra pounds. One study has shown that the waistlines of people who constantly consume ‘light’ drinks increase by up to 3 times compared to those who don’t have these drinks in their diet.
