You’ll be surprised to learn why all jeans have a little pocket inside the front pocket.
We have been speculating, I suppose. And despite our best efforts, we couldn’t think of a useful application for this tiny pocket.
There is no room for a cell phone or little bills or bills, and neither can be kept there. the keys as well? You must be kidding; it’s impossible for you to obtain the key.
Fear not, though; according to the British newspaper The Independent, they have the answer to the venerable conundrum, and it’s probably not what you’d anticipate.
You may have thought about it occasionally. Whether they are men’s or women’s jeans, all of them normally have two front pockets and two back pockets.
They also have the occasional little pocket within one of the front pockets. However, why is it there?
It’s intriguing because to identify the beginning, we had go back approximately 200 years. That little thumbnail-sized pocket wasn’t a fashionable addition to pants; rather, it served as a practical fix for a problem that is no longer an issue.
The renowned Levi’s jeans company is the ingenious inventor of the invention.
According to The Independent, the first “additional” pocket was created in the 1800s. The reason is that at the time, cowboys were the demographic that wore jeans the most regularly.
When cowboys used to ride, they would either put their little pocket watches under their coats or clip them to a strap, but both of these methods resulted in the watch falling and breaking.
Levis started making pants with a little pocket to shield the pocket watch from damage as a result.
The cowboys kept the clock in their pockets so they could ride without being concerned that it could break. Smart!
Sincerely, I was unaware of that. The fact that the look has endured with jeans up until the present is quite amazing. Cowboys may not be around anymore, but their watch pockets are still around!
