After the Little People, Big World star, 32, underwent an emergency shunt revision on Thursday morning, his wife Tori Roloff shared an update with her 1.9 million Instagram followers that Zach “is doing well and recovering” as a result of the procedure. She said that Zach “is doing well and recovering” after the operation.
“This was not at all how we had envisioned our vacation going… Tori, who is 31 years old, noted in the caption that Zachary had an emergency shunt revision this morning. It’s been a terrifying 72 hours, but he’s doing well and healing!! Despite everything that’s happened!
She thanked friends, family, and supporters, in addition to Zach’s neurosurgeon team, for “their attentiveness to Zach’s needs!” and shared photographs of Zach giving a thumbs up from his hospital bed.

According to John Hopkins Medicine, a shunt is a hollow tube that is surgically placed in the brain — or occasionally in the spine — to assist in the drainage of cerebrospinal fluid and the redirection of that fluid to another location in the body where it can be reabsorbed. This procedure may be performed in response to a condition known as hydrocephalus.
Zach’s father, Matt Roloff, had previously shared the news on Wednesday that his son was getting ready to undergo a “essential shunt adjustment,” and he asked their fans to pray for them and their family.
Tori also updated her fans with an Instagram Story on Wednesday night, which has since been deleted. In it, she explained that she “hesitated” before sharing the news with them, but that she “really believes in prayer” and “could need some” the following day.
