We will all miss this legend. Rest in peace, sir.

He was widely regarded as the most talented songwriter of his period.

Burt Bacharach, a legendary Oscar and Grammy Award–winning songwriter and composer, has passed away. He was responsible for an incredible number of all-time classic pop tunes, including “Walk on By,” “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,” “Close to You,” and many others.

Tina Brausam, who served as his publicist, confirmed the news to the Associated Press on Thursday. However, the cause of death has not been disclosed at this time. He was 94.

Burt was widely regarded as one of the most talented songwriters of his period. His body of work, which ranged from the 1950s to the 1990s, earned him this reputation.

He has collaborated with his frequent writing partner Hal David on a number of the songs that became number-one hits in the United States, including those that were performed by Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Christopher Cross, and The Carpenters. He is responsible for a number of songs that reached number one in the US.

Dusty Springfield, B.J. Thomas, Tom Jones, Nat King Cole, Elvis Costello, and Rod Stewart are just a few examples of the other well-known musicians for whom he has written songs.

I Say a Little Prayer, That’s What Friends Are For, I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, On My Own, and Arthur’s Theme are some of his other songs that are considered to be his greatest enduring hits.

As a result of his efforts on the films Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Arthur, he was awarded three Academy Awards, two of which were for Best Original Song and Best Original Score, respectively.

He was honored by being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside Hal David due to the widespread consensus that he was one of the most influential composers and producers of the 20th century.

The New York Times wrote the following about him: “A die-hard romantic whose mature style might be described as Wagnerian lounge music, Mr. Bacharach merged the chromatic harmonies and long, angular melodies of late-19th-century symphonic music with modern, bubbly pop orchestration, and embellished the resulting mixture with a staccato rhythmic drive.”

After being married to Paula Stewart for a period of five years, Burt then wed the actress Angie Dickinson, and the couple remained together for a period of 15 years after their marriage.

After that, he wed Carole Bayer Sager, a lyricist with whom he frequently collaborated during the 1980s and early 1990s. The couple was married for nine years until divorcing nine years later in 1991.

His current wife of nearly 30 years, Jane Hansen, as well as his three children, Cristopher, Oliver, and Raleigh, will carry on his legacy after his passing.
